Whine About it Thursday Instead!

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

Mea culpa, Gentle Readers.  I forgot that yesterday was Wednesday and we were supposed to whine.  Never fear.  I will make it up to you today.

My whine?  Hair maintenance.  As in the hair on my legs.  It’s capri/short season and that means I’ve got to apply a razor very frequently or risk scaring small children and offending the public in general.

Whine on!

Whine About it Wednesday!

My dh has more closet space, shelving and drawers than any member in our house.  I only have one row of hanging shelving on my side of the closet–he has two.  I have the chest of drawers for my things–he has the entire dresser.

Day before yesterday his upper hanging rack collapsed, sending everything that he’d had on that upper shelve hurtling to the floor, not to mention all the clothes which had been attached to it.  To make matters worse, the door opens into his side, so guess what?  I can’t get to my clothes.  Has he fixed this yet?

Would I be whining about it if he had?

“You know what the problem is?” he asks.

“Yes, I do.  You have too much stuff.”

“No.  You hang everything up.  You should put some things in the drawers.”

Take a deep breath to prevent myself from blowing up.  “The drawers are full.  Maybe you should try cleaning out your closet.  There’s lots of stuff in there that doesn’t fit anymore.”

“I’ll clean the closet out when I fix it, but you’re going to have to start hanging less stuff up.”

Excellent.  Instead of washing it, I’ll throw it away.  Talk about the best way to expedite laundry.

Another week with no whine.   I know, I know, it’s hard to believe, but…I got nothing.  I’m reading The Vampire’s Secret by Raven Hart.  Fabulous, fabulous book.  I’ve rented The Queen because I’ve been waitnig patiently to have time to watch that movie.  I won’t have to cook tonight–we’ll eat at church.  (And I won’t have to cook tomorrow night either because we’ll go to my Mom’s.)  Jen’s coming over on Friday, we’re attending the Reader’s Luncheon on Saturday.  This week is all about fun stuff.  If I were hardpressed I could find a whine–my daughter doesn’t seem to be able to resist a blank dry erase board or piece of paper, but considering she leaves me little I love you messages with smileys drawn on them, then how can I truly complain?

Life’s good.

You will hear no whines from me today.

The book is DONE.

Naturally, I will have revisions, but Precious always makes me look better than I actually am, so no worries there.  I’m sure there are a few problems that my fried brain has overlooked, but she is magnificent and wonderful and she will find them.  I hesitate to say this because I don’t want to jinx it, but…I think this is a strong story.  I have absolutely LOVED these characters.  Their story has been an absolute joy, all tiredness aside.  (And my arm is hurting like you wouldn’t believe, even four motrin later.)

So.  Now I am going to bed.  You people whine on and I’ll join you later.

Today’s whine is small, but it’s still a whine.  So I’ll drag out my trusty and share it with you.

Because of all my dh’s crap–that should be in our outbuilding, which is full, of course–is on my carport, I can’t park there.  And it’s going to rain today.

Currently there is a ping, pong table, a pressure washer, a shop-vac, two table saws, a weight bench, a deck box and a huge trashcan on my carport.  What’s not there, you ask?

*grits teeth*

My car.

I have threatened on more than one occasion lately to post an ad on the FreeCycle network and let people come tote it all off for free.  Dh is unmoved.

And so is that stuff!

My whine?  Power keeps blinking on and off eating my posts!!!  Yes, we need the rain, but why the hell do we ALWAYS have to get the storms???  Must go before I lose this post, too…

Whine on…

**Update to whine–have been nauseated since 8ish, starting puking at 9.  Am taking anti-hurling meds and going to lay down for a little while.

Whine About it Wednesday!

Wednesday, March 28th, 2007

I have absolutely nothing to whine about so far this week.  (I’m throwing that “so far” in there in case I have to come back and amend my statement.)

But so far, it’s all good.

I’m a RITA finalist–still tickled over that.

The Book That Nearly Killed Me–aka THE EX-GIRLFRIENDS’ CLUB, my May Blaze–got a 4.5 from Romantic Times.  That’s excellent, because I wasn’t sure how it was going to do.  I still don’t have any perspective about that story, so if any of you out there read it and like it, please let me know.   Not that I’m needy or anything.

I went to the doctor yesterday and he’s giving me a new medicine to try for my diabetes.  I’ve been taking a shot two times a day–not insulin–but this is a pill, which will be much, much better.

My story, which has to be finished this weekend, is moving along at a good pace and I feel *good* about it, like I haven’t completely messed it up.  Will there be revision?  Of course.  And it will make it better.  But **crossing fingers, squeezing eyes tightly shut, hoping not to jinx it** I don’t think they’ll be like the last book.   I think I’ve got a better handle on this couple.

Anyway, like I said, it’s all good.  What about you, Gentle Readers?  Whines?  Annoyances?  Mild displeasures?  Whine on.  I’m listening…
