Whine About it Wednesday!

So last night I’m going over a study sheet with my daughter and, while I am used to her misspelling words, I gotta tell you, this one was particularly disturbing.

“disside”

I gaped, people.  Literally.  “Disside???”

Daughter pauses.  “What?”

“How do you spell decide?”

“D-e-c-i-d-e.”

My  mouth hasn’t managed to close yet.  “I don’t understand.  Why didn’t you spell it right on the study guide?”

She shrugs, unconcerned.  “Dunno.”

She might not know, but I do.  Sheer laziness.  Argh!!!

On a happier note, my son has been keeping his room clean, picking up his dirty clothes, promptly attending to his homework and working for my brother to earn money for a mission trip.

My question is this–why can’t they be good at the same time???

THAT’S an easy answer — it’d make your life too easy.

  2. Kimberly Says:

    Because that would be easy…

Oh wait, that’s what Jen said–at 4:30 in the morning?

    4:30 is sleeping time…

You couldn’t be that lucky…. . Is your daughter keeping her room clean now that you put a garbage can in it? And my whine would be the copier, very expensive I might add, that is not stapling…….. . Otherwise have a nice whiny Wednesday.

At least they are not both being bad.

  5. Rhonda Says:

    Jen, there is that.

    Kimberly, Jen keeps weird hours.

Ginger, the garbage can is working out beautifully. I’m glad I caved.

Susan, I’m glad they’re being good. I just wish I could get them to read. And teach them to spell.

    Yay on the garbage can!

I have to say that Jen and Kimberly are probably right–I think that there’s likely some rule making it statistically impossible for children to all be in a “good” cycle at the same time. Otherwise, what would we parents do all day?

Hmmm… my whine today is that my beloved 14-year-old Accord failed its smog test and will have to be permanently retired. All reason aside, I’m going to miss it… (A little silly, getting all attached to a car…
