Not To Beat A Dead Horse…

…which no doubt died of dehydration…but I AM SO SICK OF THIS HEAT!!!!!

Seriously, I know that it’s August and that I live in Alabama–my darling kids point this out every time I whine about being hot–but I honestly don’t know how much more I can take.  No rain, 10 straight days of 100+ degree heat.  My flowers are dying, despite the water I’ve been pouring over them.  The grass is brittle and brown.  The unit is running non-stop and it doesn’t actually cool off in here until around midnight.  Sweet Lord, how I dread our power bill.  We could probably take a small vacation for what that baby is going to be this month.

I wonder if they’re still doing that homestead thing in Alaska.  Cooler climate, Northern Lights…it’s an option.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Rhonda I feel for you…we had a cuple days of a Canadian wind brought down but we are back up to today and all next week of high temps and humidity and I am so ready for winter, which is sad to say! Our power company decided this summer was the time to add a 50% increase from all the years of subsidizing, yeah some energy bills will be as high as a mortgage! If we are goin to Alaska, my bags are packed! Try to have a good weekend.

I agree it is too hot. I was dreading the light bill also because our air runs all day long. Got the bill yesterday and it was within $2.00 of what it was last month. I was happy with that. My flowers have been dead along time. We have a water ban and can only water outside on even days from midnight until 10 AM. I always forgot to water in the morning. Have a great weekend.

Yeah, it’s hot but the weatherman said this morning that we have cooler temperatures coming… . It showed next Friday a temperature of 90, yowsar, bring it on. Have a wonderful weekend and try to stay cool.

I like Alaska. Once upon a time, I seriously thought I’d like to live in Homer (yes, it’s in Alaska ). I’m ready to go. I’ll deal with the lack’o'light in the wintertime.

Well, Alaska does have 30 days of darkness too. There’s a movie coming out by that name, I think, about that subject except Vampires have taken advantage of the darkness and found a new home where they have free rein.

    Can you eat popcycles?

My heart goes out to all of you who live in the South. I don’t know how you stand the high temps. Here in the Northeast we have been having some wonderfully cool weather. Today and tomorrow it is supposed to be in the high 80’s with high humidity but starting Sunday we are back down to the high 70’s and low 80’s with hardly any humidity. If I could figure a way to bottle our weather I’d send you some.

I’m sick of sticking to my car seats when I get inside.

This is my early afternoon with the girls. I pick them up from school and we do something together just the three of us. Everything Sweet Pea wanted to do involved me being outside. Not gonna happen. We finally settled on shakes for them and a nap for me.

The heat wave can’t last forever, can it?

(Although it’s starting to feel like it.)

  9. Sarah Says:

yes Kathy, I am eagerly awaiting that movie. I am not a real sun person (because of the heat it brings) would like to experience no light and see what it is really like. You gals take care.

Ugh! I feel you! I’m a live-long Alabamian, and this heat is KILLING me!! And I’m originally from south Alabama, too! Oh, how I long for November and crisp evenings and the smell of woodsmoke…

Woot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It rained here last night. Not just a little sprinkle but a full-out with thunder and lightening STORM.

    I slept like a baby.
