Whine About it Wednesday!
Let’s play a new game. This is called How Hot Is It?
I’ll go first.Â
Here in Northern Alabama it’s 100 degrees with a heat index of 107. In other words, it’s what us Southerners like to call Damn Hot. (Not to be confused with a cheerful “Hot Damn!” which has a completely different connotation.)
Your turn. ![]()

Well good mornin in the sweltering heat. Marylander here and yesterday was 110 w/heat index, spose to be a little warmer today…
I have had quite enough of it already. Gettin ready for work, so you ladies all try to stay cool as I make my drive in with a non a/c’d vehicle!!

ARGH! Sarah, you poor love — no AC in your vehicle. Ihope you’re sipping iced coffee, iced tea or ice water — ya know something with ice.
It was 91 degrees at 8 p.m. last night. We hit triple-digits yesterday too. Reminds me of that Ella Fitzgerald song that goes, “It’s too damn hot, too damn hot….”

I missed the memo where they voted to move Alabama to the surface of the fricking sun. This weather is just ridiculous. My dogs won’t even go outside. My new sod is dying no matter how much I water it.
When is fall supposed to get here???

Ah, August in the south. Remind me again why I love it here?

Y’all are gonna think I’m a nut, but this Alabama heat isn’t bothering me. I think it’s because the humidity isn’t as bad as I’d expected. Coming from Hawaii, I’d psyched myself up for really hot, steamy, muggier than hell weather. So far, it’s like Hawaii here (when the wind blows), only a little hotter. Now, when the wind doesn’t blow, yeah, it ain’t Hawaii.
I’ve also lived in Maryland, and I think that heat is worse than this. Sarah, you poor thing! You need AC! I had a car once in MD that didn’t have AC, but I only had to drive a mile to work in it. Whew.
My parents just went to Houston for the week. You think it’s hot here…. Apparently, it’s a bit muggier there. (Where is a smiley with steam coming off it when you need one?)

I’m so sorry, everyone! This explains why I don’t live somewhere that gets so hot in the summer–I would just explode. Either that, or spend the entire day at the supermarket in front of the freezer case… According to weather.com, it’s currently 59 where we are, with a predicted high of 77. Sending cool thoughts across the country!

Sarah, bless your heart! I thought it would be cooler up there. Eek!
Jen, it’s not called Hotlanta for nothing. It’s the humidy that’s getting me.
Susan, 99? 100? At that point, what’s the difference, right? It still feels the same. They’re doing road construction around here and my heart goes out to those guys working those crews.
Sherry, that’s terrible! I just looked at our weather and we’re looking at 105 on Friday–without the heat index. I want an early fall!
Kimberly, it absolutely sucks, doesn’t it?
Andrea, fall? What’s fall? Lately it seems like we go directly from summer to spring.
Kira, supposedly us Southerners have character.
More than likely our brains are merely addled from the heat.
Lynne, we definitely need a smiley with steam coming off of it.
Fedora! 59? Really? Truly? Where are you? I might consider relocating.

Yep, I’m with Rhonda, it’s DAMN HOT!!!!!! And getting hotter. And it’s bothering my sinuses
. However, if I can get through today & tomorrow, I’m on vacation and won’t be back until Wednesday….
. I’ve not had any time off all summer. My idea time off would be the closet hotel in the Gardendale area with a pool and some great summer drink….

okay I am home now thank goodness, central air…what an invention. I always say I am gonna move to where it is cooler, but no here I come, south of the Mason. Lynn I own a Wrangler there fore a/c is taking the top off of it and going really fast down the highway!!!! Doesn’t cut it with the humidity…heat without the humidity is fine but we reached 110 today and hotter tomorrow…wish I could call in sick the rest of the week and stay right here bloggin in the a/c! or move to where Fedora resides!!!

Rhonda, hey I greatly pity the work crews out on the roads today too…but I’ll tell yah, some of the sights you see when they have those shirts off keep you occupied when stuck in traffic!!!

We’re out in the California Bay Area–come on and join the fun
Or maybe you can visit during the summers, anyway
