Whine About it Wednesday!

My dh recently installed a cool new programmable thermostat to help reduce our heating/cooling costs.  I thought this was wonderful…until I realized that I don’t know how to work it.  I can’t change the settings and I’m frying in here.  Argh!  What?  Is this PRISON?  Today, I am going to find the directions for the bloody thing and figure out how to work it.

Also, my writing hidey-hole has gone high-tech.  On would think this would be good…but it’s not.  I don’t need internet access when I’m trying to work.  I emailed Jen from the bookstore yesterday and shared these three words.

I.AM.DOOMED.

What about ya’ll?  Come on!  Share the whine!

I coulda whined big time Monday night. The DS was prepping for a colonoscopy and griping big time about not being able to eat. Then after the test yesterday he griped because his first meal had to be light. He’s flying to D.C. today so I get 2 gripe-free days.

  2. Jen Says:

Hey, those programmable thermostats come with an instruction booklet.

  3. Danniele Says:

I wish to goodness I could get back on some type of sleeping schedule!!! I haven’t been right since we got back from Scotland. And with school starting next week, having to be up at 6:30, it’s going to get ugly around here.

Yesterday I felt exhausted all day. Then couldn’t go to sleep until after 12 and tossed and turned all night. I’m so tired!!!!

  4. Ginger Says:

Poor Marilyn, those are no fun, I went through one in January… . But it turned out well, all things considered. Hey, Danniele, try some of those sleep aids, they do help. And those programmable thermostats, no way, that’s why when my unit got replaced 2 years ago, I told the guys NOT to change it to one of those. I like to kind where I can just move it up or down myself.. My whine is that I have a head and ear ache. The doctor explained that the ear problem was kinda like when you get leg cramps but this is happening with my ear.. . Thanks for the whine on Wednesday, releases all that fustration. Have a good one.

I’m sleep deprived as well. I think it’s a conspiracy in my household to prevent me from making deadline. For the past three nights I’ve been up every hour or so. One night Baby Girl ended up in our bed, upside down, kicking her feet in my face. Loads of fun. Last night she fell out of bed and hit her cheek. One uninterrupted night. Is that too much to ask?

Just a work related whine on this end. My boss came in today with a …”you busy?” Next thing I know, I’m having to run this huge data dump from a database that isn’t working and keeps timing out. The IT person refuses to just run the data for me and keeps asking me dumb questions that aren’t helping. Now she’s at lunch. Once I do get the data, I have to match it up with another spreadsheet and do a paredo chart comparing the instances of failure. It sounds horrible to say, much less do, and it all has to be done by Tuesday. Sigh…

i need a day off lol.

  8. Rhonda Says:

Marilyn, I know what you mean on those gripe-free days. Enjoy them!

Jen, I’m going to find that booklet. No worries. I will prevail.

Danniele, sleeping hsan’t been my problem. Waking up, on the other hand, is more of an issue.

Ginger, I can’t imagine what an ear cramp must feel like, but it doesn’t sound fun at all. Bless your heart. Can’t they do anything???

Kira, it’s not too much to ask at all. Might I suggest a hotel room? It’s worked for me in the past.

Andrea, I that you can even do this. I wouldn’t have a clue. Good luck, dear heart. If anyone can fix this, then I’m sure it’s you. That’s what happens when you’re a Smarty Pants.

Kim H, hope you get a day off soon!

  9. Fedora Says:

Oh, I’m so sorry everyone! Ugh! A pox on all of it!

Not sure what my whine right now would be… things are actually OK at the moment–my daughter and I chopped off our hair yesterday for Wigs for Kids, so we’re liking the ah-freedom feeling of short hair, and Rhonda, I finally had a chance to read the Men Out of Uniform trilogy–mmmmm… Total yum. Thank you, thank you!!

And better temperatures, no pain, helpful coworkers, and more sleep for everyone!

  10. Susan Says:

No Whines here except school starts in less than 2 weeks. Where did this summer go. I was off today took child downtown to play in the water fountains.

  11. Rhonda Says:

Fedora, my daughter tried to grow her hair out for Locks of Love, but her hair stalled out a little below her shoulders and it was driving her crazy. Kudos to you and yours for getting that done. You took before and after pictures, right? And I’m so glad that you enjoyed the Men series. (I’m finishing up another Men book now.)

Susan, those fountains look fabulous. The last time we were in Chattanooga they didn’t have them. :/ As for the summer, my kids have fought/made fun/annoyed/aggravated and shouted at eachother all summer. I’m actually looking forward to a little peace and quiet. Of course, as soon as it’s quiet I’ll miss the noise.

  12. Kris Starr Says:

I don’t really have a whine for today…except that I’m really not getting a whole lot accomplished with a clingy five-year-old underfoot all day long. Oh, and the fact that company that I was looking forward to had to postpone a visit AGAIN. And I’m also feeling rather tired of being consistently broke…

Hm. I guess I do have a lot to whine about, huh?

I was also going to say, too — when the day comes that I chop my locks off, I would love to be able to donate them, but as I understand it, because my stylist uses bleach for my highlights, my hair’s unacceptable.
