Home Again!

I am still too tired to do a proper post, but wanted to pop in and let you all know that a.) I made it home and b.) I had a WONDERFUL time.  It’s a beautiful country steeped in rich heritage and if it weren’t for the midges–little biting bugs that swarm–and the lack of ice, I might be tempted to live there.  As it were, I hated those little bugs and I am addictied to ice, so….   Nevertheless, I would love to go back someday.

The Playfriends were fabulous companions (special thanks to Danniele for patting my back while I tossed my Full Scottish Breakfast a block of the Royal Mile in Edinburgh after a short but memorable ride on a double decker bus and to Kim, for braving those tiny roads and round-abouts and planning the trip to start with.  Kira, I would thank you for the horseback riding, but we all know that would be a lie.   Andrea, Navigator Extraordinaire, I forgive you for that pointless trek up the side of the mountain.  You couldn’t have known neither my aversion to walking up tall things or that the path was blocked AT THE TOP.  In any case, you’re hysterical and a constant source of entertainment.   Singing Georgia Satellites’ Keep Your Hands To Yourself at the top our lungs on the way back from the Orkney’s was a particularly fine moment.

At any rate, I had big fun.

I’m so glad to be home! I know having you on the trip made it that much more enjoyable, Rhonda!

Are you sure you won’t try horseback riding again? Honestly, you did a wonderful job! It’s not your fault your horse had a personality problem.

    Kira

  7. Rhonda Says:

Nope. No more horsebacking riding. I have already told Precious that you are the go-to girl for the horseback riding.

  8. Marilyn Says:

I’m already regretting my decision not to go. Oh well. Can’t turn back time and maybe there will be another trip another year.

So glad you enjoyed it despite the horse with the dicey personality and tossing your breakfast. I can’t wait to see more photos.

Yeah, that late night drive back from Inverness was pretty funny. I think we scared Danniele with our rowdy renditions of 80s classics…

  10. Andrea Says:

Don’t worry Marilyn, I think there’s an England and Ireland trip being circulated for 2009 or 2010.

  11. Rhonda Says:

Marilyn, I wish you would have gone! We *really* missed you!

  12. Danniele Says:

Patting your back while you tossed your cookies was the least I could do, after all, you gave me your seat in the van so I could toss mine out the window until Kim could stop. After that, Dramamine was my friend!
