Friday Fun

My daughter’s End of the Year party is today at a classmate’s pool and I’m chaperoning.  Pray for me.  These are 6th graders, after all, prone to mouthiness and mischief.  (Or that could only be my daughter.   )  At any rate, she’s been looking forward to this all week, and what’s important to her is important to me.  Next week is actually the last week of school, but between final tests and Field Day, there won’t be time for a party, which is why we’re having it today.

Needless to say both of my kids are overjoyed at the idea of sleeping in–me, too!!!–lolling around, swimming, etc…  They’re just ready to be home for a while and chunk the schedule.  There will be days they won’t come out of their pj’s and sleep through breakfast.  We’ll have movie marathons, make homemade ice cream, play dominoes and Life.

:::sigh:::

Summer’s comin’, people, and we’re ready.

    Ouch, Misty! I hope you heal quickly.

    I remember kids’ summer vacation. I never got anything accomplished cause I always had a herd of boys traipsing through my house and descending on the kitchen like a swarm of locusts. But I always made my home open to the boys’ friends; that way I knew where they were.

    Have fun at the pool party, but remember your sunscreen!

    Misty, that’s awful!!! Hope it heals quickly.

    Rhonda, we’re looking forward to it, too! Schoool being out, that is.

    Kimberly, my kids are old enough now that they pretty much entertain themselves. The plan is to get my 8 pages done before they ever get out of bed.

    Misty, so sorry about your wrist!!

    Marilyn, we’re not going to need sunscreen today. It’s 73 degrees. I have no idea how they plan to swim in that, but no doubt they will.

    Jen, I know The Girl is probably ready, too.

    I am and I’m not ready for summer. It actually makes my juggling act with the girls a little more complicated - 3 days a week at the office with me, 1 day a week with my mom, 1 day a week with Dh’s mom. I only get work accomplished on the days they aren’t actually with me.

    But next year I won’t have either of them at work so my plan is to enjoy them while I can. It’s going to be lonely come August

    I don’t know about that sunscreen, girlie. It’s somewhat breezy here. I can’t wait for school to be out. Even though we do have summer classes, it will not be quite so many here on campus. We have been terribly busy here and I am ready for some quite time. Have a wonderful weekend!

    Just so you know, you can burn when its 73. I have. I’ve burned when its overcast. I’ve burned in the snow. A light coat of sunscreen couldn’t hurt, especially if you’re outside all day.

    I’m crowning myself the Queen of SPF. Where’s a smiley with a tiara?
