The Whole Tree

Tuesday, May 8th, 2007

Instead of turning over a new leaf, I’m going to try and turn over the whole stinkin’ tree.

Yesterday my husband and I went out and toured local gyms.  After a little discussion–over what would be my last good lunch for the next few days–we decided on one that offers 24 hour service with a key pass so that we can go whenever we want to.  It’s not far from my house and is particularly deserted during the hours my kids are in school, which is perfectly wonderful in my world as I would prefer no one watch me wheez and sweat as I mush along on a treadmill.  I have even bought Actual Workout Clothes for this occasion.

After we researched our gym choices, we went to the grocery store and bought the special food–translate soup fixins–for the diet we will start today.  My dh is disgustingly excited about this because he’s never been on a diet.  Yes, you read that right.

He’s.Never.Been.On.A.Diet.  (I perfected the eyeroll in the grocery store, btw)

And this one is a doozy, but several people at our church have tried it and swear by it’s success.  It’s basically soup and fruit.  The fruit I can handle.  The soup?  Eh.  Not so much, but I will.  The killer for me is that I can’t have any Diet Mt. Dew.  Tea, water, unsweetened juices only.  No diet drinks.  But it’s only for 7 days and I’ve been telling myself I can do anything for 7 days.  And maybe if I keep telling myself that I will believe it.

At any rate, at the end of 7 days we’re supposed to have lost 10-17 pounds.

We shall see….
