Whine About it Wednesday!
Well, since I’ve been whining all week I feel sort of bad about whining again today…but I’m not going to let that stop me.
Today’s whine? The pissing contest between Simon Cowell and Ryan Seacrest on American Idol last night.
I think both of them need to go have their egos surgically altered. Even Randy and Paula were cringing. And did you notice that they barely spoke, though Seacrest continued to take pot-shots at Simon? Ruined a perfectly good show. And I liked Chris Sligh right up until he said he didn’t like “Sweet Home Alabama.” Congratulations, genius. You probably just alienated an ENTIRE state with rabid voting habits. You auditioned in Birmingham. Bama would have gotten behind you, but I’m not so sure now. If you don’t feel the love for Lynryd Skynrd, you won’t be feeling the love from Bama.Â
Just sayin’.
That’s my whine. What’s yours?

I heard Rick & Bubba talking about Chris and Chris’ thoughts on “Sweet Home Alabama”. I felt like you did. However, one of my co workers thought he was joking because that’s what he does. I don’t know about that myself, but I don’t think Bama Nation will find it too funny. That boy had best get his act together. My whine is I wish this sinus headache would go far, far away. Have a wonderful, Whiny Wednesday

I would whine, but all my whines are outweighed by my trip to see Billy Joel tonight. Dinner, concert, night away…what’s to whine about?

Whine? How about cry. I’ve been overrun by a stomach bug. DH, Sweet Pea, and Baby Girl all have it. At one point the cat was even yaking on the floor next to them. Every time I think one of them is over it they start again. Baby Girl’s had it off and on for a week and a half. I’m bathing in antibacterial soap. Here’s hoping I don’t catch it.

Here’s my whine, yesterday the writing was happening. I was feeling the story and good things happened. Today? Ack. Can’t seem to get the rhythm of the book. Dialogue feels stupid. It’s just not happening but I can’t just leave it alone. *sigh* I suppose I’ll just look to fix whatever isn’t working tomorrow but at least I’ll forge ahead so that there’s something to fix.

AI did get a bit intense last night, especially when Sligh dissed Il Divo and Teletubbies, both creations of Simon Cowell. Combined with his bashing our state anthem it made for some ugly moments. Alabama voters ARE loyal to their singers. There are 2 from Alabama on “Nashville Star” — a brother and sister from Muscle Shoals — and they’ve consistently gotten high votes. Mr. Sligh might have been joking, but here in Bama we don’t joke about Skynrd. Nuh uh. Nope. We’re so loyal we make a hack like Taylor Hicks an American Idol.
My whine? My Tivo screwed up for some reason last night during the taping of AI. It stopped after 50 minutes and I realized what had happened and hit the record button to have it manually tape the rest of the show. Well, when we went back later to watch (and whiz through the commercials) it had stopped after 40 minutes. So I didn’t get to see the last 3 guys perform. Can’t figure out what’s wrong. It’s set up properly. It better not screw up again tonight.

I must be the only person around that will choose to leave the tv off instead of watch American Idol. DH is a rabid watcher of Nashville Star and I absolutely detest that, so the only way I’m watching AI is under terrorist torture circumstances. Feeling the tummy bug thing. Oldest girl came home from school yesterday with tummy complaints, and lo and behold and hour later the party began. She was sick all nite long. Dh came by my work this morning to ask if I really wanted her left home today…well duh. Like she needed to go to school after yaking at 6 this morning? Why do you think we have the virus now? Some other person sent their sick child to school to share the love
. Have I said thank you lately for Wednesdays?

I don’t have much to whine about today. I quickly cranked out 5 great pages this morning, so that’s great. My diet is going ok. I guess I’m sad my lunch date cancelled today. I was looking forward to spending some WW points at Ruby Tuesdays.
As a southern transplant, I do have to say that the first time I saw a guy take his hat off when Sweet Home Alabama came on, I was a little dumbfounded. And lets just say I’ll never to go Big Spring Jam on a night Skynrd is playing ever again! Y’all take it seriously out here, that’s for sure.

This is not a whine it will come after. My daughters 18 th Birthday is today and my son and I went to her school to deliver 18 roses to her . The principal would not let us take it to her class room so they called her to the office. The principal got her in the hall and made her go in her office and pretended that she was going to get in trouble for something, then my son and I went in there and gave her the flowers and she was so surprised. It was wonderful. Now for my whine, my car started to mess up on me today and almost left me stranded, but I was able to get it to the shop. My son had to come pick me up and we have no idea when it will be ready and I have to leave for work at 3:00 am. When will thigs go good just for one day ?

Ginger, I don’t think he was joking, but I could be wrong. He was my pick of the guys, so I hope I am. Hope you feel better soon!
Kimberly, hope you and DG have a wonderful time!
Kira, sorry your fam is sick!!! Sending healing thoughts your way!
Keep pluggin’, Jen. You’ll get it.
Marilyn, I actually liked that Sligh shot back at Simon, but Simon nailed him with the Teletubbie comeback, proving that he’s the King of the Cutting Quip.
Sorry about your Tivo!
Sheryl, hope your daughter gets well soon and that the rest of you don’t catch it. I had to go to a school thing this morning for my daughter and cringed every time I heard a kid hack.
Andrea, I have page envy. I cranked out several good pages yesterday but haven’t even opened the document yet today. (Don’t look, Editor!) I *am* going to work in just a few minutes though.
And yes, we do take Sweet Home Alabama seriously. I love that song.

Mis, tell Pooh Happy B’day from me! What a sweet thing you did for her! Sorry about your car.
Seems like it’s always something.
